LIDAR Wind Measurement Systems

LIDAR Molas B300 Offshore Wind Measurement Systems for higher wind energy yield

Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) systems are able to measure the speed of incoming wind before it interacts with the wind turbine rotor. These preview wind measurements can be used in feedforward control systems that are designed to reduce turbine loads and maximize wind energy production output.

The Molas series LIDAR Wind Measurement Systems are set up on the turbines and measure air movements that occur up to a distance of several hundred meters in front of the rotor with the help of several laser beams. The results are used to more precisely position the turbines in the wind.

Molas B300 series LIDAR systems are able to measure the speed of incoming wind before it interacts with a wind turbine rotor. These previews and predictions of wind measurements can be used in feedforward control systems that are designed to reduce turbine loads.
